Ariel is quite open about her weight loss story. She says her new medications helped her lose weight. According to Ariel Winter, her anti-depressant medications had prevented her from losing weight all these years, despite her routine workouts.

“For years I had been on anti-depressants that caused me to gain weight that I couldn’t lose no matter what I did. It was always frustrating for me because I wanted to get fit and feel like the work I was doing was paying off, but it never felt that way. I had accepted it and moved on. The change in medication instantly made me drop all the weight I couldn’t lose before by just giving me back a metabolism. While I feel better mentally with the change, it’s nice to work out and have your body actually respond, I want to gain a few pounds of muscle and get healthier.”

“I also love to eat like, pasta and cheese and candy and all this stuff, so for me, I think it’s important for my actual health to go in and make sure that I’m exercising,”

She also admits her love for Mint chocolate chip ice cream.

“I tried it recently, and I just fell in love with it,” Winter said. “I go through stages like every three months, I pick a new favorite food and it’s currently mint chocolate chip ice cream. So I have six different companies of mint chocolate chip ice cream in my freezer currently.”

Ariel Winter’s full-body workout

Equipment: sliders (or towels/plates)

Good for: total body

Instructions: Complete the designated number of reps for each move, then immediately continue to the next exercise. Complete three rounds total. Perform this circuit three to four times per week for optimal results.

Curtsy lunge

How to:

  • Stand with your feet hip-width apart and hands on your hips. 
  • Take a big step back with your left leg, crossing it behind right. 
  • Bend your knees and lower hips until your right thigh is nearly parallel to the floor. 
  • Keep the torso upright and hips and shoulders as square as possible. 
  • Return to start. Then repeat on the other side. That’s one rep. Complete 20 reps on each side.

Jump squat

How to:

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart, toes forward, and hands in front of your chest. 
  • Bend knees, then explosively jump as high as possible. 
  • Land softly on balls of feet, roll back onto heels, and immediately lower into the next squat. 
  • That’s one rep. Complete 20.

Plank up-downs

How to: 

  • Start in a forearm plank. 
  • One side at a time, without rocking hips, push through palms into high plank. 
  • Lower back to forearms. 
  • That’s one rep. Complete ten reps on each side.

Plank jacks

How to: 

  • Begin in a high plank. 
  • While keeping the upper body steady, move your leg to the right. Return to the starting position. Do the same movement with your other leg
  • Complete as many reps as possible in 45 seconds, then rest for 15 seconds.

Knee tuck shoulder taps

How to: 

  • Start in a high plank position, with your shoulders stacked over the wrists and sliders under your feet. 
  • Engage your core, bend legs, and slide feet forward until your knees are under hips in a bear-plank position. 
  • Without rocking side to side, lift the right hand off the floor and touch the left shoulder. Reverse the movement, then repeat on the opposite side. 
  • Slide your feet back to a plank position. 
  • That’s one rep. Complete 20 reps, then repeat the entire circuit three to five times total.
